In 1924, two enterprising brothers with a culinary background set up Brahmin Coffee Club - a small restaurant on Lalbagh Fort Road in Bangalore to serve coffee and idlis. With a focus on hygiene, cleanliness, discipline and practices, the South Indian vegetarian restaurant grew in popularity. Subsequently, the restaurant was renamed 'Mavalli Tiffin Rooms', or MTR for short, after the location where it was situated. MTR shifted to its present location on Lalbagh Road, Bangalore, India in 1960 and has since been much loved by food lovers and the public alike.

Today, MTR is being managed by Harishchandra Maiya’s children Hemamalini Maiya, Vikram Maiya and Arvind Maiya. They have focused on expanding MTR's nearly 90-year old business to bring South Indian food to the world. There are 10 MTR restaurants in India and abroad, including Singapore and Muscat.

It is now Malaysia's turn to experience the legendary taste of MTR. The Indian restaurant MTR 1924 has begun steadily by serving delectable South Indian dishes and aims to become one of the best Indian restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, after delighting India with the best South Indian food for close to nine decades.

Double Rice Idly & Single Uddin Vada

Steamed rice & black gram cakes and a fried lentil doughnut. Served with sambar & chutney.
